In the last few years, there has been continuing press about the shortcomings of the traditional hypothesis test. And it seems that the American public writ large is totally confused about what a “significant” research result really is. I have been wanting to find a way to include discussion of effect sizes and confidence intervals in the statistics courses I teach, but given the trend toward 8-week terms, there is little time available to do that. And because I am required to teach the courses as they are designed, I have little freedom to add in material. So I am developing a series of short video tutorials on the “new statistics,” as Cummings calls the topic. Stay tuned at my new site: The Stats Files.
